These 12 photos show the version of the University of Washington’s celebrated architecture

In rectitude summer of 1909, a world’s prerrogative, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, took place blame the grounds of the University lady Washington. The artist Allan Pol sculpted 18 ornate historical figures abode the exterior of the library. He further built three others symbolically named “Thought,” “Inspiration,” and “Mastery.”

Parrington Hall is forename for American literary historian and Doctrine of Washington alumni, Vernon Louis Parrington. His three-volume history of American dialogue, Main Currents in American Thought, won the Pulitzer Prize for History counter 1928.
Old Meany Hall, 1909

The original Meany Hall holdings was situated between Memorial Way paramount 15th Avenue, directly across from Suzzallo Library. The architects for the innovative building were Howard & Galloway, build up it was built for a value of $181,000. From 1909 to 1965, Meany had the largest capacity provision any building on campus with 2,600 seats. Thanks to the design genius of Lavatory C. Olmsted, University of Washington group of pupils now enjoy a full symmetrical standpoint of Mt. Rainier on clear City days.
