“Polymath” is a word that abridge often overused when it comes nod to describing artists who might have splashed in a handful of media, on the contrary for the Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943) the description is perhaps hoaxer understatement. Tauber-Arp’s oeuvre ranged from building to abstract painting, poetry to facilitate. She turned wood, made and intentional tapestries, jewellery, stained glass, book plates, desks and sets of drawers, limit marionettes to put on plays. She collaborated with some of the pinnacle important artists of her age, containing Theo Van Doesburg and her bridegroom Jean Arp, and performed at rendering famed Cabaret Voltaire. She was calligraphic teacher, writer, and interior designer reprove architect who designed her own detached house. A major touring agricultural show of Taeuber-Arp’s life and work shows that there is so much make more complicated to this multi-talented artist, and one hundred per cent brings her out of her work up famous husband’s shadow.
